I will not go into detail about the letter or my reply but what I would like to share with you all is the one thing that really stuck with me since that day.
Search for Truth and honour this is the whole of our path.
If we Look for truth and honour in all things, in ourselves and in others then you can not go far wrong. If you always look to these two things then you will find harmony. If you honour the earth then you will honour all that exists on the earth. You will honour men, women, children, animals all that there is and this will be reflected in your action towards them. You then temper that with the truth and you should be the first to speak out at any injustices and wrong doing. If paganism is a religion of actions then you should be active. You should mobilise. Make paganism an active force in the world.
There are many out there who call themselves Pagans and love to dress up and walk in circles. But robes do not a pagan make. All the rituals in the world will not amount to much unless you are full immersed in society. This may sound strange coming from someone in the OSN. Are monastics supposed to withdraw from the world???? I am here to tell you what we are supposed to do is to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. In looking at the bigger picture we can more easily see the truth. It is once we have found the Truth we then engage once again.
I tend to think that is why this image of the Druid walking in the woods has such a deep resonance within out psyche. It is this image of the holy man apart from the world yet fully immersed in it. He is who the King will call to aid his decisions. Why? Because his time outside has allowed him to see the bigger picture.
In a number of Pagan traditions they call the Gods the Shining Ones. I like this idea as it speaks to me of a shining people who serve the Shining Ones. So I call you all allow your Paganism to Shine. Speak out and give honour where honour is due. Walk the road of truth and you will truly find harmony.
