The second order- walking the path of holism
"Tada gan iarracht." ("Nothing without effort." -Old Gaelic Saying)
The picture to the left is a Celtic bird design and this is significant for the second order. The second order is a path for those of us who wish to balance our normal daily life with our monastic druid devotions. Just like the bird design it is a difficult pattern to follow but the outcome is worth it and so beautiful. Also like a bird this way of living should inspire you to fly high and give you the chance to inspire others with your own unique song. Due to the hectic pace of everyday life we cannot expect a second order member to follow the full office and celebrate all the festival days. Yet you are expected to make some changes to your life. All second order members are expected to apply the rule of life to their own personal circumstances. All second order members should seek out an anam-chara or soul friend to support them as they make this difficult journey. This can be someone within the order or just someone you trust and know will help you along your path. A second order member should find time everyday to pray the morning and evening office spending at least 30 minutes every day in meditation. They should try and celebrate the eight major festivals in some way and mark those days as special. Second order members should try and keep a spiritual journal with minimum one entry per week. This journal will make a great tool for your discussions with your anam-chara. As the motto of the order OSN says, "nothing without effort". This could be the choice for you, to be part of a growing community based on prayer and devotion. Our hearts inspired by the wisdom of the past yet our eyes firmly fixed on a bright future. If you feel called to this way of living please use the contact form and let us begin talking.
